Our Story
Marlena Griffey--Senior 2006

Looking back at my career at HCA, I see two main things that have impacted my
life the most. The first being the academic preparation I received for
college. My school days at Heritage proved to be rigorous and challenging,
but never without the generous student-teacher interactions that are the
benefit of small class sizes. It wasn't until I reached my first semester at Texas A&M, though, that I fully appreciated this preparation. Because the stimulation of my high school classes, the transition into a university setting wasn't nearly as challenging as what most freshmen experience. Four years later, after graduating in the top 5% of my class at Texas A&M, I am so
grateful for the educational foundation that was laid for me at Heritage Christian Academy.
The second and most important thing, I took away from my experience at Heritage was the spark that ignited in my heart for missions through Mission HCA. I have known since the time I was 14 that God has placed a deep desire in my heart to serve and share the Gospel with those who had never experienced the intimate love and radical redemption Jesus offers, but before I came to HCA I was unsure of how this passion was going to play out in my life. When I came to Heritage, not only was I able to experience global missions through trips to orphanages in Mexico, I was also able to reach out in a tangible way to the lost and hurting right here in our community through Mission HCA service days. This opened my eyes to the concept that missions is not just a trip or an activity, it is a lifestyle.
I am so grateful for the opportunity the Lord provided for me through Heritage. I know without a doubt that I would not be the person I am today had it not been for the passionate teachers, amazing classmates, and God-blessed opportunities that Heritage provided during my most critical years of maturation.
Jared Huckabee--Senior 2008

I am a 2008 graduate and I have been at HCA since Kindergarten. I would not trade my time at Heritage for anything! I was 100% prepared academically,
athletically, and spiritually for college; and I grew up with a group of friends who will always be like family to me. One of the things I loved most about HCA is the opportunity and the encouragement I had to explore a variety of activities. I was involved in football, basketball, track, drama, praise team, national honor society, missions, and so much more. These experiences gave me the time to really
develop my skills and find out where my gifts and talents were. My classes were very challenging, but my teachers were always very encouraging; and they equipped me with the tools and the confidence I needed to be successful in
college and in life. My academic preparedness and my athletic experience
translated into excellent scholarship offers at Oklahoma Baptist University in track, academics, leadership, and music. With our dual credit program I was also able to start my freshman with 15 semester hours completed.
The teachers and administrators were incredible spiritual mentors to me throughout the years. They taught me how to be a leader and how to serve. Because of them, I started college with a strong relationship with
Jesus Christ, a faith that cannot be shaken, and a desire to make a difference through servant leadership. Heritage will forever be my home.
